Matcha Sake Bomb
The Chant
Everyone says it together, and the last line runs as long as your breath does.
Matcha!
抹茶!
Moeru!
燃える!
Fire it up!
Kimi to!
君と!
With you!
Inochi no!
命の!
Of life!
BOOOOOOMB!!
ボーーーーーム!!
How To Do It
Four steps, and the whole table does them at the same time.

Step 1
Hold your beer glass and your matcha sake shot in front of you, one in each hand.

Step 2
Raise the shot so it sits just above the beer. Everyone at the table does this at the same time.

Step 3
Chant the five lines together, in rhythm. Let the last one run long.

Step 4
On "BOOOOOOMB!!" the shot drops and everybody drinks. All of it, right then.
The poster version

What It Tastes Like
The grassy, fresh side of matcha against a crisp, cold Japanese lager. Lightly sweet with a bit of bitterness behind it, and much smoother than it sounds once the shot and the beer actually combine. People expect something harsh and get something easy, which is usually when they order a second round.
Bring People
This is not a thing to do alone at the bar, and we would gently talk you out of it. It works because everyone does it at once. Birthdays, group dinners, first visits, the beginning of a long night on the Lower East Side. The drink is an excuse for six people to shout the same words at the same time and then look at each other.
#matchabombchallenge
Film your table, tag @izakayajuraku and use #matchabombchallenge. We ask before we post anything here, so if we spot yours you will hear from us first.
Nobody has claimed the first one yet. The wall starts with whoever tags us next.
Get A Table
The Matcha Sake Bomb is on the menu every day we are open, at 121 Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side. Bring your friends and learn the chant on the way over.
