Yame Whisky: A Rare and Refined Japanese Whisky at Izakaya Juraku

We carry a small, carefully chosen lineup of Japanese whisky, and Yame is one of our favorites, elegant, smooth, and made with real craft. We pour both the Yame 10-Year and Yame 15-Year.

The History of Yame Whisky

Yame Whisky comes from the Kitaya Distillery, a sake and shochu producer with over 200 years of history in Yame, Fukuoka. They brought that same brewing and distilling background into whisky-making, using underground water sourced from the mountains.

Yame Whisky's Distillation and Aging Process

  • A blend of aged malt and grain whisky, chosen for depth and smoothness
  • Aged in American oak, mostly ex-bourbon barrels, which brings out vanilla, caramel, and oak
  • Aged in Fukuoka's warm, humid climate, which gives it a soft, rounded profile

Yame Whisky Expressions at Izakaya Juraku

Yame 10-Year Whisky

  • Aged 10 years, smooth and balanced with a rich mouthfeel
  • Notes of honey, toasted oak, and dried fruit, with a soft vanilla finish
  • The whisky behind our Matcha Highball, paired with Japanese matcha and soda

Yame 15-Year Whisky

  • Aged 15 years, deeper and more complex
  • Notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel, and a touch of spice
  • Long, velvety finish — good neat or on the rocks

How to Enjoy Yame Whisky at Izakaya Juraku

  • Neat or on the rocks, to taste the full range of flavors
  • In a Matcha Highball, made with the Yame 10-Year, matcha, and soda
  • Alongside grilled meats, yakitori, or seafood

Try Yame at Izakaya Juraku, 121 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002, the 10-Year in a Matcha Highball, the 15-Year neat if you want to slow down and taste it on its own.
