Syndicate Distillery's Bourbon and the Strawberry no Shinigami Cocktail at Izakaya Juraku

At Izakaya Juraku, we love shining a light on great spirits, and Syndicate Distillery's Hudson Region 845 Bourbon is one worth talking about. It's a rich and well-balanced bourbon with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak.

We built a cocktail around it called Strawberry no Shinigami, and yes, the name is a Bleach reference. The anime's protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, is a Shinigami, and "ichigo" also means strawberry in Japanese. That little wordplay gave us the idea for this bourbon smash.

The Cocktail

Strawberry no Shinigami combines Syndicate Distillery bourbon with yuzu, fresh strawberries, shiso leaf, and Japanese simple syrup.

The caramel and vanilla notes of the bourbon meet the tartness of yuzu and the juicy sweetness of strawberries, while the shiso adds an herbal note that ties it all together.
